Tuition-only scenario

Annual tuition only. Living costs, books, aid, borrowing, fees and taxes are excluded.

Costs grow at the entered annual rate. Bills are due at the start of each college year; enrollment now applies no waiting-period inflation.

Savings compound annually only until enrollment. They then stay fixed, with no later returns or contributions. The gap compares this pool with nominal tuition bills, without discounting.

Result amounts round to the nearest cent for display; very small amounts use scientific notation. Totals use unrounded annual amounts.

All amounts are USD.

Rates are user-entered assumptions, not historical data or guaranteed returns. This scenario supports nonnegative rates; deflation and investment losses are outside its scope.

Tuition Cost Projector

This tuition-only scenario starts with entered current annual tuition. Annual bills grow at the entered inflation assumption and are due at the beginning of each college year, at wait years, wait plus one, and onward. Waiting zero years applies no pre-enrollment inflation. All amounts are USD.

Total modeled tuition is the sum of the selected whole number of annual bills. Living expenses, books, aid, fees, borrowing and taxes are excluded; this is not a school-specific price forecast or a full cost of attendance.

Current savings compound annually at the entered return only until enrollment. That enrollment pool then stays fixed: no later earnings, contributions, fees or taxes are modeled. The funding gap subtracts that pool from nominal tuition bills without discounting. A positive gap is a shortfall, a negative gap a surplus, and zero is fully covered in this scenario.

Zero tuition, savings, waiting time and rates are supported. College duration is a whole count from one to six years; waiting time is a whole count from zero to 25. Rates are entered nonnegative scenario assumptions, not historical data or guaranteed returns; deflation and investment losses are outside this model. Invalid drafts hide projections rather than creating positive costs.
