Purchase-financing model: annual nominal interest divided by 12, equal payments at each month end, no daily accrual or lender cent rounding. The rate excludes fees and is not a fee-inclusive APR. Down payment plus principal plus interest equals purchase price plus interest. Defaults are illustrative, not current vehicle prices or loan quotes.

Each total covers its own entered loan term; monthly differences may compare different terms. The balance chart follows both loans through the longer term and includes each payoff month. This is not a common-horizon ownership-cost comparison: depreciation, resale value, maintenance, insurance, fuel, taxes and fees are excluded. A lower modeled outlay does not establish which vehicle is the better purchase.

FTC: financing and ownership costs

What the financing comparison includes

Each loan uses entered price less down payment, annual nominal interest divided by 12, equal end-of-month payments and its own whole-month term. Down payment plus principal plus interest equals purchase price plus interest. The chart includes every integer month and both payoff endpoints.

Each total covers its own entered loan term, not a common ownership period. The model excludes depreciation, resale, maintenance, insurance, fuel, taxes and fees. It does not forecast prices or choose the better purchase. Unresolved numerical differences are withheld rather than assigned a false winner.
